Richard Varney Memorial Poetry Reading

Join Virginia Walker and Fran Castan for the annual Richard Varney Memorial Poetry Reading.
Castan and Walker will be joined by members of the Art/Rich Poetry Roundtable who will read from library's poetry collection.
The reading honors the late Richard Varney who was an important contributor to the Poetry Roundtable.
Shelter Island poet Virginia Walker, a retired professor of English at Dowling College and Suffolk County Community College and the co-author of Neuron Mirror (along with Michael Walsh)
Fran Castan, was named Long Island Poet of the Year by the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association. She is the author of The Widow’s Quilt, and her poetry has appeared in Ms. Magazine, Poetry, The Paterson Literary Review and many other anthologies.
This program will take place in person, under the tent at the American Legion Hall.
